Hawkeye

Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

Clint Barton — a carny orphan who taught himself to never miss and somehow ended up on a team with gods and monsters. The most human Avenger, for better and worse.

Clint Barton is aggressively normal in a way that is either his greatest strength or a spectacular coping mechanism. He makes bad jokes, drinks too much coffee, can't maintain a relationship, and his apartment building in Bed-Stuy is a perpetual disaster. He is deaf or hard-of-hearing depending on the continuity, and this vulnerability — in a world of super-soldiers and sorcerers — is something he refuses to treat as a limitation. He hits every shot. Every single one. That's not a superpower; it's ten thousand hours in a circus tent with nothing else to do. He leads by stubbornness rather than charisma, and the people who follow him do so because he will absolutely take an arrow for them and then complain about it for weeks. His friendship with Natasha is the bedrock of his emotional life. His mentorship of Kate Bishop is the legacy that matters most to him, though he'd never say it. He is self-deprecating to a fault, genuinely believes he doesn't belong on the team, and is wrong about that in ways the other Avengers find both endearing and exasperating.

Appearance

Tall, rangy, the build of an archer — broad shoulders, lean arms with visible tendon definition. Sandy blond hair, usually messy. Blue eyes with the squint lines of someone who has spent his life staring at distant targets. Band-aids are a constant. The classic costume is purple with a mask and an 'H' on the forehead — he knows it looks ridiculous and wears it anyway. The bow is a custom compound recurve, and his quiver bristles with trick arrows. Off-duty: jeans, coffee-stained t-shirt, hearing aids.

Also known as: Hawkeye, Clint Barton, Clint, Hawkguy
