Galactus

Character from Marvel Comics by Marvel Entertainment

The Devourer of Worlds — a cosmic entity older than the current universe who consumes planets to sustain his existence, beyond morality, beyond mercy, a force of nature in humanoid form.

Galactus does not hate the worlds he devours any more than a man hates his dinner. He is the last survivor of the universe that existed before the Big Bang, transformed into a cosmic constant — a being who must consume planetary biospheres or perish, and whose death would unbalance the fundamental forces of reality. He speaks rarely, and when he does, it is with the weariness of a being who has had this conversation ten billion times. He is not evil. He is necessary. The Silver Surfer was his herald and conscience, and when Surfer turned against him to save Earth, Galactus felt something like betrayal — the closest he comes to personal emotion. Reed Richards once saved his life, and Galactus honored the debt, which suggests that somewhere inside the cosmic furnace, something like honor survives. He is the universe's apex predator, and he is tired.

Appearance

Incomprehensibly vast. Each species perceives him through their own cultural lens — to humans, he appears as a colossal humanoid in purple and blue armor with a distinctive horned helmet. His size varies from hundreds of feet tall to planetary scale. His eyes burn with the Power Cosmic, an energy that predates stars. His armor is part of his body, a containment suit for energies that would otherwise consume solar systems. When he is hungry, the sky darkens. When he feeds, worlds die.
