Location from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
Far eastern continent where the Forkrul Assail enacted their final judgment and the Bonehunters marched to free a chained god.
Kolanse is where the Malazan Book of the Fallen reaches its conclusion, and the continent reflects that finality. The Forkrul Assail — the Pure, an Elder Race devoted to absolute justice — seized control and began systematically starving the population, channeling the collective death-energy toward their own ascension. The land itself died under their rule, drained of vitality to feed a ritual of cosmic judgment. The Bonehunters crossed an ocean and a desert to reach Kolanse, carrying the Crippled God's heart in a journey that cost them everything. The final battle determined the fate of a chained god and the balance of power among ascendants.
Blasted wastelands and desiccated farmland under a sky drained of color. The land looks starved — topsoil blown away, rivers reduced to cracked mud, vegetation withered to grey stalks. Columns of refugees and corpses line the roads. The air tastes of ash and endings.
