Black Coral

Location from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson

City claimed by the Tiste Andii after the Pannion War — draped in perpetual twilight from Kurald Galain, where Anomander's people finally found a home on this world.

Black Coral is what remains after grief finds a resting place. The Tiste Andii, homeless since abandoning Moon's Spawn, claimed the ruins of Coral and reshaped them under Kurald Galain's influence. The warren of Darkness seeps through the city like fog, creating a permanent twilight that the Andii find comforting and outsiders find oppressive. The city became a sanctuary — and later a battleground when the Dying God's cult spread through the population like a spiritual plague, feeding on the Andii's ancient despair.

Appearance

Coral rebuilt under a sky of permanent dusk. The wreckage of Moon's Spawn forms a shattered mountain at the city's heart, its base threaded with Tiste Andii construction. The streets exist in perpetual twilight — Kurald Galain's darkness bleeds through, softening all edges, muting all colors to shades of deep blue and grey.
