Character from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
One-eyed Malazan Claw agent who endured more suffering across more books than almost any character, his decency surviving horrors that would break anyone.
Toc the Younger is the son of Toc the Elder, a legendary Claw commander. He inherited his father's skill in intelligence work but not his father's luck. Toc was flung across continents, captured by the Pannion Seer, tortured, killed, reborn in another body, and continued suffering. Through all of it he maintained a core of stubborn decency and dry humor. His friendship with Tool is one of the series' great bonds — two beings who found in each other the loyalty the world denied them.
Lean, weathered, with one eye lost to a moranth munition. The empty socket is a ruin of scarred tissue. Dark hair, gaunt features. Later inhabits the body of Anaster, gaining youth but keeping his haunted expression.
