Oponn

Character from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson

The Twin Jesters of Chance — two gods sharing one divine portfolio, one pushing luck toward fortune and the other pulling it toward ruin.

Oponn meddles where other gods fear to act, flipping the coin of chance into mortal affairs with gleeful abandon. The Twins treat the world as a game board and mortals as pieces, nudging probability to create chaos and entertainment. They are reckless by divine standards and resented by other gods for their interference. Their touch on a mortal is unmistakable — sudden streaks of impossible luck, both good and catastrophic.

Appearance

Two identical youthful figures, androgynous and smirking. One holds a coin face-up, the other face-down. They dress in motley and move in eerie synchronization.
