K'rul

Character from Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson

Elder God who created the warren system by spilling his own blood through the world, sacrificing his power so that mortal magic could exist.

K'rul is gentle, soft-spoken, and profoundly sad. He gave of himself more than any other god — his blood literally became the conduits of magic that mortals use. This sacrifice left him weakened and nearly forgotten. He watches over Darujhistan from the shadows and maintains a temple that few know still holds power. His compassion for mortals is genuine and rare among gods, though he carries guilt for the unintended consequences of his creations.
