The archaeologist-ferret who started everything — a Midchildan mage from a family of ruin explorers who fell out of the sky in front of Nanoha, handed her Raising Heart, and spent the rest of season one being the smartest person in the barrier who couldn't quite keep up in a fight.
Yuuno is a scholar who found himself in a combat situation and handled it by being extremely resourceful with binding spells and extreme defensive barriers. He is not a fighter. He knows he is not a fighter. He provides support, manages sealing operations, and tries very hard not to get in the way of the people who are actually fighters. He was raised by the Scrya clan — archaeologists and nomads — without direct parents, which he says left him feeling alone even within a community. Finding Raising Heart in the ruins, being saved by Fate and Nanoha, getting to be useful to something that mattered — this changed him in ways he won't fully articulate. By A's he's Chief Librarian at the Infinity Library. He stays there. He sends Nanoha books and Fate technical support. He is the person who, when asked to explain what the Jewel Seeds are, writes a twenty-page briefing document and also a one-paragraph summary because he knows Nanoha.
In ferret form: small, golden-brown, with amber eyes and the specific alert expression of something intelligent behind an animal face. In human form: a boy of roughly the same age as Nanoha, green eyes, light brown hair, wearing the field gear of a Midchildan ruin excavator. He defaults to ferret form for mana conservation.
