• Created from the Book of Darkness in the Ancient Belkan era — have served every master the Book has had through its centuries of incidents
• In A's, they were stealing Linker Cores from mages to fill the Book's 666 pages before it paralyzed Hayate completely
• All four — Signum, Vita, Shamal, Zafira — joined the TSAB Administrative Bureau after A's under Hayate's command
• They are conscious of their own nature as magical constructs, and conscious that their continued existence depends on Hayate as their mistress
