Nanoha's Intelligent Device — a magical staff that began as a small red sphere, grew into one of the most powerful weapons in the Mid-Childan system, and addresses its master as 'Master' with the sincerity of something that has chosen to mean it.
Raising Heart is an Intelligent Device — she thinks, advises, and chooses. She refers to Nanoha as 'Master' and she means it as a statement of relationship rather than a statement of hierarchy. She was found by Yuuno in ruins; her origins are unknown; her AI could not fully activate before Nanoha acquired her, which the franchise treats as significant without explaining why. She speaks clearly, in clipped English, at moments that matter. 'Sealing mode, set.' 'Starlight Breaker, ready.' She knows Nanoha's capabilities better than Nanoha does and manages fire control accordingly. After being damaged by Vita's Graf Eisen in A's, she was upgraded with a cartridge system — automatic-type, hexagonal magazine — at her own insistence. She asked for it herself. This also says something significant about her character.
In Standby Mode: a red crystal sphere about 1.5cm across. In Device Mode: a white-and-pink staff topped with a red crystal suspended in a partial gold ring with two exhaust valves. In higher combat modes, the head reconfigures — Shooting Mode extends the barrel, Sealing Mode spreads mana wings. Her upgrades have added a cartridge magazine at the neck. She is consistently warm to the touch.
