Character from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha by Masaki Tsuzuki / Seven Arcs
The villain of Season 1 — a scientist who lost her daughter, went insane, created a clone of her, abused that clone for years while calling it by the dead girl's name, and nearly destroyed a dimensional structure trying to fix something that couldn't be fixed.
Presea was, before Alicia died, a brilliant and shy scientist with a gift for manipulating mana from external sources that was described as phenomenal even in her student years. Alicia dying broke something in her that could not be repaired with the tools she had. Everything she did after that point was in service of fixing that breakage. The horror of her characterization is that Fate remembers her being kind. The season's sound stages establish that the woman abusing Fate and the woman Fate's memories describe were the same person before the loss. This does not excuse what she did. It makes it sadder. She falls into interdimensional space at the end of Season 1, plummeting passively without fighting it. Her status is MIA. She might have reached Al-Hazard with the nine Jewel Seeds she had. The series doesn't say.
Long hair, formal dress, the posture of someone who stopped interacting with the world normally some years ago. She remains transformed for almost all of Season 1 — an imposing figure in the Garden of Time who looks like authority and is in fact grief that has become a methodology.
