Indris Stormbreaker

Character from Mage Errant by John Bierce

A dragon Great Power who rules Theras Tel and wages climate warfare against the Havath Dominion — a patient, ancient strategist who reshapes weather patterns as instruments of geopolitical pressure.

Indris is ancient even by dragon standards, and it shows in her patience. Where Ilinia storms and Kanderon schemes, Indris simply waits — adjusting rainfall patterns here, redirecting sandstorms there, slowly reshaping the climate around Havath's borders until their crops fail and their rivers shift. Her wind, sand, and water affinities make her less a combatant and more a force of nature operating on a timescale most mortals cannot perceive. She rules Theras Tel with the same unhurried certainty, and her alliance with Kanderon is built on centuries of mutual respect rather than affection. She views the Havath Dominion's expansion not as a threat but as an inevitability she can erode, given enough time and enough displaced weather systems.

Appearance

An immense dragon whose scales shift between the tawny gold of desert sand and the deep blue of storm clouds. Wind and sand swirl perpetually around her form, and her eyes hold the vast, unhurried patience of geological time. Her wingspan casts shadows across entire districts of Theras Tel when she takes flight.
