Familiars are twisted, often animal-like beings that attack intruders and collect despair for the witch. They can grow and become new witches if they consume enough humans.

• They are weaker than witches but can be numerous.
• If a familiar eats enough people, it becomes a witch itself.
• Magical girls often fight familiars before reaching the witch.
• They reflect the witch's theme and nature.
• Defeating familiars does not yield Grief Seeds.
