Kingdom of Madagascar

Location from Madagascar by DreamWorks Animation

The sovereign lemur kingdom on the island of Madagascar — home of King Julien's throne, his dancing ceremonies, his sky spirit rituals, and his subjects who have a limited ability to say no to any of this.

The Kingdom of Madagascar is governed by the laws of King Julien's enthusiasm and Maurice's patient maintenance. Julien holds court, makes proclamations, and conducts ceremonies that have unclear practical value but strong ritual significance to their participants. The Fossa are the primary external threat — large predators who hunt the lemurs when they get too close to the territory's edges. The rest of the island's politics involve crocodiles, aye-ayes, mountain lemurs, and a rat kingdom that everyone is nervous about. The kingdom was temporarily occupied by Koto during the events of All Hail King Julien, then returned to Julien, then handed to Gecko Stevie in the film when Julien left for the circus.
