The predator territory adjacent to the lemur kingdom — where the Fossa wait, hunt, and represent the primary existential threat to Julien's reign and his subjects' continued existence.
The Fossa are the franchise's first antagonists — large, cat-like predators who hunt the lemurs and represent the danger that King Julien's authority is partly designed to manage. They're driven off when Alex roars at them in the first film, which establishes the zoo animals as something new in the island's political landscape. The territory is never developed in detail but functions as the wild's version of threat — the thing outside the boundary, the reason the kingdom has a king.
Dense jungle on the edges of the lemur kingdom. Darker, quieter, the kind of place where the undergrowth is thick and things move without being seen. The Fossa emerge from it at night and at the boundaries.
