King Julien's Crown

The symbol of King Julien's authority — he has several versions, loses them occasionally, and their presence or absence tracks the franchise's dramatic beats.

The crown is King Julien's external identity. Without it he's just a lemur with opinions. With it he's a king with opinions, which is a meaningful difference in the Kingdom of Madagascar. He gave it up when he stayed with Sonya at the end of Madagascar 3. He came back and took it back. The franchise does not present this as a contradiction.

Appearance

The most prominent version is green and yellow with orange accents, made from leaves and jungle materials, shaped to sit on a lemur's head at maximum authority angle. Other versions include a white and red cloth crown and a purple feathered design. Gecko Stevie was incorporated into one crown, which ended badly for Stevie.
