A large black bear at Circus Zaragoza who communicates only in grunts, rides a motorcycle, and is the only character to inspire King Julien to genuine selflessness.
Sonya doesn't produce legible speech. She grunts, she stares, she acts, and everyone around her adjusts. Julien was smitten with her from the moment she swallowed him and pulled him out covered in spit and put him on her back. He interpreted this as a good sign. It was. Her motorcycle act with King Julien — stunts, acrobatics, pure physics-defying joy — is one of the best sequences in the third film. She commits to it completely. When Julien decided to stay with the zoo animals in New York, she was heartbroken in the particular wordless way of a bear who isn't going to say so. When he came back, she took him back. No questions. She is a straightforward character and there's something quietly moving about that.
