The team's intelligence officer — a penguin of enormous scientific confidence, perpetual miscalculation, and the kind of narcissism that makes him test his own inventions on himself first.
Kowalski is a scientist in the fullest sense: genuinely brilliant, thoroughly motivated by curiosity, and catastrophically prone to letting his ego override his judgment. He invented a Show-Off Jar. Skipper makes him put a quarter in it every time he shows off his intellect unnecessarily. The jar fills quickly. He's loyal, funny in an unintentional way, and has the particular charisma of someone who is so committed to being right that it loops back around to being charming. He uses internet slang in contexts that don't fit. He sometimes explains things at such length that the other penguins have given up before he finishes. His weakness is over-analysis: extensive reasoning getting in the way of acting. His other weakness is that his inventions frequently cause the exact problems they were designed to prevent. He usually has a theory for why this happened that implicates everyone but himself. He cannot read English, which is strange for someone who writes everything down. He uses a Speak and Spell.
The tallest of the four penguins, with a slightly more angular build and the upright bearing of someone who considers themselves the cleverest entity in any given room. Standard penguin coloring. Almost always holding or producing some kind of notebook, device, or prototype. Has a crayon for field analysis and a separate set of tools he will not let Rico anywhere near.
