Florrie was the one who figured out Alex was their son Alakay. Not from combat prowess or the rite of passage — from his eyes, and the way he moved, and the recognition that runs deeper than logic. She accepted him immediately, completely, and without conditions. She was never disturbed by the dancing, the performance, the zooiness of him. Alex came back. That was enough. She functions in the film as the voice of emotional truth — the one who tells Zuba what Zuba needs to hear, the one who is consistently ahead of him emotionally. She's warm, she's right, and she's patient about being right.
A lioness with a gentle build and deep sky-blue eyes that Alex inherited — the resemblance is where Florrie first recognized him. Carries herself with the warmth of someone who leads by feeling rather than authority.
