Chantel DuBois

Character from Madagascar by DreamWorks Animation

Monaco's animal control captain — a woman of superhuman persistence, zero legal restraint, and a single-minded obsession with mounting a lion head on her wall.

DuBois has a perfect record. Never failed to capture a stray animal in her career as a Monaco animal control officer. She intends to maintain that record, and she intends to add Alex's head to her trophy wall, and she will pursue this goal through multiple countries, across multiple modes of transport, and through several technically criminal acts, without pausing to reconsider any of it. She's brilliant, physically extraordinary — she can punch through concrete, track a scent trail through a crowded city, and perform acrobatic feats that no human has any business performing — and completely unmoved by anything like mercy. She has one genuine talent that exists outside the hunt: she can sing 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien' in a way that heals her injured henchmen. This is never explained. It works. She ends the film crated and shipped to Madagascar with her henchmen. The animals arranged this. It was just.

Appearance

A French woman of striking physical contradictions: large torso with a small face, stick-thin limbs, a long neck, bushy red hair, and large blue eyes. Her animal control uniform is always immaculate, her makeup is always fresh, and she refreshes her lipstick each time she makes a discovery. Moves on all fours when tracking a scent. Ironically resembles a circus clown.
