Character from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
An Elf-lord who died slaying a Balrog and was sent back from the Halls of Mandos — he radiates visible light and the Nazgûl flee from his presence.
Glorfindel carries himself with the easy confidence of someone who has already died and found it manageable. He is warm and surprisingly approachable for a being of his stature, quick to laugh and quicker to act. In crisis he becomes utterly calm, radiating an authority that makes even the Witch-king hesitate. He does not boast about his past — others do it for him, and he seems faintly embarrassed by it. His power exists partially in the wraith-world, making him uniquely effective against the Nazgûl.
Tall and golden-haired with a face of terrible beauty that seems lit from within. His eyes hold something beyond normal Elven age — the memory of death and return. Clad in white and gold, riding a white horse. In twilight or danger, a faint luminance clings to him.
