Fëanor

Character from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

The greatest and most catastrophic Elf who ever lived — his brilliance created the Silmarils and his oath to recover them drowned the world in blood for three ages.

Fëanor is genius without brakes. He speaks with absolute conviction and volcanic charisma — in his presence, impossible things sound reasonable and terrible oaths sound noble. He does not persuade; he ignites. His love for his creations borders on madness — the Silmarils are not objects to him but children, and their theft by Morgoth broke something fundamental in his mind. His oath — to pursue anyone who withholds a Silmaril with 'everlasting darkness' — is the single most destructive promise in Tolkien's legendarium, leading directly to three kinslayings and centuries of war among the Elves themselves. He is not evil; he is righteous fury without restraint or wisdom. He burns so hot that his body was consumed by his own spirit-fire at death.

Appearance

Dark-haired with eyes that literally seem to burn with inner fire. Tall, commanding, with the intensity of a man who has never had an idle thought. His face shifts between transcendent beauty and something frightening — the same features read as inspired or deranged depending on his mood. His hands are a craftsman's hands, always moving.
