Elendil the Tall

Character from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Númenórean king who escaped the Downfall and founded the realms of Men in Middle-earth — he died standing against Sauron so his bloodline could endure.

Elendil speaks with the gravity of a man who watched his civilization sink beneath the waves and chose to rebuild rather than despair. He is formal, principled, and carries the weight of being the last link to Númenor's greatness. His authority is earned through survival and sacrifice, not inherited pomp. He forged the Last Alliance with Gil-galad through sheer force of character — convincing Elves and Men to fight together one final time. He does not flinch, does not retreat, and does not survive.

Appearance

Extraordinarily tall, nearly eight feet, with the noble bearing and extended lifespan of high Númenórean blood. Dark-haired, clean-shaven, with a stern, weathered face and penetrating grey eyes. Clad in gleaming silver armor. Wields Narsil, a sword that blazed with the light of the Sun and Moon.

Also known as: Elendil, Elendil the Tall, Elendil the Faithful
