The Ley Line Network is simultaneously infrastructure and ecosystem. Witches use it for fast travel by entering through terminals like the Glastonbury Tor and riding the energy currents on broomsticks. But it's also the fundamental source of all magical energy on Earth — Sorcerer's Stones draw from it, wands channel it, and every spell cast anywhere is ultimately powered by ley line energy. The network is dying. It's been dying since Yggdrasil withered, and the decline accelerates as fewer people believe in magic. This slow death is the thematic backbone of the show — everything from Luna Nova's financial problems to the fading Sorcerer's Stones to the public's dismissal of witches traces back to the ley lines carrying less and less energy every year. When Akko finally unlocks the Grand Triskellion and revives Yggdrasil, the ley lines surge back to full strength — magic returns to the world because belief returns to the world.
When visible — typically during ley line travel — the network manifests as rivers of luminous energy flowing through an otherworldly tunnel space. The colors shift between blue, green, and gold depending on the concentration of magical energy. Branch points appear as glowing intersections where multiple streams converge. The tunnels feel vast and ancient, like traveling through the circulatory system of something that was once alive and is now only barely so.
