Arcturus Forest is a place that actively does not want you to be there. A magic circle protects its perimeter, trapping anyone who enters — even witches cannot leave without navigating the forest's internal logic, which operates on rules older than Luna Nova. The temperature drops as you go deeper. The sounds of the outside world disappear within minutes of entering. What replaces them are forest sounds that don't quite correspond to any known animal. Dangerous magical creatures and plants inhabit the forest — Mandrakes whose screams can incapacitate, the Wagandea tree whose pollen permanently destroys flight magic (as Chariot learned), and other, unnamed things that move between the trees. The forest is sacred ground — the site where the Nine Olde Witches sealed the Grand Triskellion and the place where the fate of all magic is ultimately decided. The emotional register of Arcturus Forest is primordial awe. It's the oldest place in the story, the place where magic began and where magic will either end or be reborn.
Enormous and dark, filled with old, corroded trees draped in moss and bramble. The canopy is so thick that light barely reaches the forest floor even at noon. Ancient roots break through the earth like bones. Magical plants grow in patterns that suggest deliberate cultivation by something that thinks on geological timescales. The air is thick with spores, pollen, and the faint bioluminescence of magical fungi. Deeper in, the trees become impossibly large — trunks wide enough to build houses inside. After the Grand Triskellion is unsealed, the forest transforms utterly: bursting into bloom with flowers of every color, the dead trees replaced by living ones radiating light. The transformation is Studio Trigger at full power — explosive, kaleidoscopic, beautiful beyond reason.
