Appleton Academy

Location from Little Witch Academia by Studio Trigger / Yoh Yoshinari

An elite boys' school with 1,000 years of history and a deep institutional hatred of witches — where Andrew Hanbridge studies politics and Louis Blackwell practices bigotry, and where medieval armor comes to life when Croix's Pixels get involved.

Appleton smells like old wood polish, leather, and the confidence of boys who have never been told they're wrong. The school has 'Familiar Exterminators' — students who hunt rats they believe are witch familiars — which tells you everything about the institutional culture. Anti-witch sentiment isn't just tolerated, it's curriculum-adjacent. The school represents the mundane world's active hostility toward magic, as opposed to the passive indifference most people display. When Croix's Pixels possess the medieval armor and it comes to life during a confrontation, Appleton's carefully maintained illusion of normalcy shatters spectacularly. The place that most despised magic becomes the place most vulnerable to it.

Appearance

An enormous campus of ostentatious buildings in the English institutional style — large stone halls, manicured gardens, a church, fireplaces in every room, and corridors lined with medieval statues and suits of armor. The buildings are designed to project power, tradition, and the absolute certainty that this is where important people are made. Significantly larger and more opulent than Luna Nova, which is an ironic commentary on where society allocates resources.
