Woodward

Character from Little Witch Academia by Studio Trigger / Yoh Yoshinari

One of the Nine Olde Witches and the original wielder of the Shiny Rod — now a transcended spirit merged with Yggdrasil, testing those who seek her with cryptic riddles and a wisdom that borders on cruelty.

Woodward communicates in riddles, leading questions, and deliberately incomplete information. She tests seekers not by asking them questions but by observing what they do when given insufficient answers. She could explain everything — but she won't, because she believes understanding earned is worth more than understanding given. This philosophy cost Croix dearly. Woodward watched a brilliant, wounded young witch spiral into bitterness and did nothing to comfort or guide her, preferring to let events unfold 'naturally.' Her wisdom is genuine but her compassion is limited — she operates on a timescale measured in centuries and individual suffering registers as noise against the signal of grand magical history. She is one of the Nine Olde Witches who founded Luna Nova and created the seal of the Grand Triskellion. She merged with Yggdrasil itself, making her simultaneously the most powerful and most detached figure in the magical world.

Appearance

Manifests as a beautiful woman with pale skin, long teal hair, and green eyes. Wears a dark green dress adorned with living plants, a wide wooden skirt structure, and a tiara of leaves and flowers with branch-like horns. Before revealing herself to Akko, appears as a huge monstrous creature of gnarled branches with a distant feminine face — designed to terrify the unworthy. Her form shifts between organic and ethereal, never quite solid.
