She's not cruel, but she's not gentle either. Broom flight kills careless witches, and she'd rather a student hate her than fall from two hundred feet. She has genuine warmth underneath the strictness and will give struggling students another chance if they show effort. Her background as a former national-level broom racing competitor and military air force veteran gives her a credibility that students respect even when they resent her grading. She is perpetually exasperated by Akko's inability to fly.
