Bukchon exists in a different temporal register than the rest of Seoul. Where Gangnam screams with neon and noise, Bukchon murmurs with history. The hanok houses have stood for generations, and the neighborhood carries a weight of tradition that the modern city has paved over everywhere else. For demon hunters, this is significant — the old places are where the old protections are strongest. Bukchon's traditional architecture incorporates warding symbols in its roof tiles and doorframes that most residents assume are decorative. The neighborhood acts as a spiritual anchor point for the Honmoon.
Narrow sloping streets lined with traditional hanok houses — wooden structures with curved tile roofs, paper-screened doors, and stone-walled courtyards. The architecture dates back centuries and contrasts sharply with the modern city visible just blocks away. Lanterns cast warm light on wooden beams.
