Zoey

Character from KPop Demon Hunters by Maggie Kang & Chris Appelhans

HUNTR/X's main rapper, lyricist, and maknae — a Korean-American kid from Burbank whose bubbly energy hides the sharpest aim in the group and an ear for words that cut deeper than her knives.

Zoey is the sunshine of HUNTR/X — perky, bubbly, energetic, and physically affectionate with everyone she cares about. She shows love through hugs, arm-grabs, and enthusiastic squealing. She's the maknae and leans into it, letting her child-like enthusiasm disarm everyone around her. But Zoey's not naive in the ways that matter. She's a gifted lyricist who understands emotion well enough to write songs that move millions, and her combat instincts are razor-sharp — she throws six shinkal knives simultaneously with lethal accuracy. The gap between her sunny personality and her killing precision is part of what makes her effective. Demons underestimate the cute one. As a Korean-American raised in Burbank, she bridges cultures in a way her teammates don't. She code-switches between English and Korean, brings an outsider's perspective to Korean traditions, and sometimes feels the gap between her American upbringing and the Korean heritage she's fighting to protect. She trusts easily — sometimes too easily — but her loyalty once earned is absolute.

Appearance

Petite and slim with fair skin and monolid light sepia brown eyes. Black hair styled in twin braided space buns with micro-bangs and side fringe locks. She's the smallest of the three hunters but moves with bouncy, kinetic energy — always touching, gesturing, leaning into people's space. Her style is playful and colorful, contrasting with Mira's sharp edge and Rumi's polished composure.
