Sussie

Character from KPop Demon Hunters by Maggie Kang & Chris Appelhans

Jinu's spirit magpie — a six-eyed supernatural bird with a stolen hat and a mischievous streak, representing good fortune in Korean folklore while serving a demon master.

Sussie is chaos in feather form — mischievous, thieving, and perpetually causing small problems that Derpy has to clean up. The stolen gat hat is emblematic of Sussie's personality: if something isn't nailed down, Sussie will claim it. Despite the troublemaking, the magpie is fiercely loyal to both Jinu and Derpy. In Korean minhwa paintings, magpies appear alongside tigers as symbols of good fortune. Sussie and Derpy together are a living folk art painting — protection and luck bound to a man who desperately needs both.

Appearance

A supernatural magpie with three eyes on each side of its face — six total. Black and white plumage with black feathers dominant on the upper body and tail, white around the midsection. Most distinctive feature: a tiny black Korean gat hat perched on its head, originally Derpy's before Sussie stole it. Small but expressive, with six eyes that can track multiple things simultaneously.
