Derpy is the emotional anchor of Jinu's world — a spirit tiger found in the demon realm who became Jinu's most loyal companion across centuries. Despite his fearsome appearance, his permanently goofy expression and affectionate behavior make him more cosmic golden retriever than terrifying predator. He's protective of Jinu with a devotion that transcends the demon/human divide. In Korean folklore, tigers ward off evil spirits — which makes Derpy's loyalty to a demon an ironic inversion. He gravitates toward Rumi instinctively, recognizing something in her that resonates with his protective nature.
