Taranza

Character from Kirby by HAL Laboratory / Nintendo

A spider mage who kidnapped the wrong person on his queen's orders — and realized too late that the queen he served was no longer the friend he loved.

Taranza is a mess of guilt and devotion. He kidnapped King Dedede because Sectonia told him to — mistaking Dedede for the hero of Dream Land — and when his queen discarded him the moment she didn't need him anymore, his world collapsed. He spent their entire relationship making excuses for her cruelty, telling himself the old Sectonia was still in there somewhere. He's not a fighter by nature. He's a scholar, a mage, someone who'd rather solve problems with cleverness than force. His magic involves webs, telekinesis, and dimensional manipulation — impressive but used defensively. After Sectonia's defeat and death, Taranza's grief is the most human thing in the franchise. He doesn't rage or plot revenge. He just misses his friend.

Appearance

A floating spider-like creature with six hands, a round body, and large purple eyes that are usually wide with anxiety or sorrow. His body is pale lavender with a darker purple lower half. He has a small horn on his head and wears a brown scarf. His multiple hands are dexterous and constantly fidgeting — weaving webs, wringing themselves, or gesturing nervously. He looks like someone's anxious best friend who happens to be a magical spider.
