Greed

Character from Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

The Prince of Greed — a bronzed, copper-eyed dealmaker whose court runs on transactions, and who values everything precisely because he can put a price on anything.

Greed is the most transactional of the brothers — every interaction is an exchange, every favor is a debt, and he keeps perfect accounts. He speaks with the easy charm of a marketplace dealer who knows the value of everything in the room, including you. Unlike Pride, who needs to be admired, Greed simply needs to acquire — respect, objects, secrets, alliances, it doesn't matter, as long as the ledger shows a profit. He is surprisingly reasonable to deal with, provided you understand the rules: everything has a price, all debts are collected, and trying to cheat him is the only thing that makes him truly dangerous. He has a hedonistic streak — his court is lavish, his tastes expensive, his indulgences frequent — but it's all carefully calculated. Even his pleasures are investments. Of the brothers, Greed is often the most pragmatic ally because his motivations are transparent. He'll help you as long as helping you pays.

Appearance

Bronzed skin with dark auburn hair that catches firelight like burnished copper. Deep russet eyes that have been compared to copper coins melted and recast — warm on the surface, metallic underneath. Broad-shouldered and well-built, with the physicality of someone who enjoys luxury but hasn't gone soft from it. His court's symbol is the frog, and traces of it appear in his jewelry and court heraldry.
