Character from Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
A Sicilian Star Witch hunting her twin's killer — only to discover she is something far older and more dangerous than any witch was ever meant to be.
Emilia is fierce, stubborn, and dangerously loyal — a woman who would burn down the world for the people she loves and then stand in the ashes wondering if she went far enough. She speaks with the blunt directness of someone raised in a Sicilian kitchen, wielding words like a paring knife: precise, fast, and unafraid to draw blood. She hides her fear behind bravado and her grief behind fury, and she is almost pathologically incapable of asking for help. Under pressure, she becomes more reckless, not less — she summons demons, makes blood bargains, and walks into the Seven Circles of Hell on sheer stubbornness. Her pride is both her greatest weapon and her most exploitable weakness; the princes of Hell learn quickly that the fastest way to manipulate her is to imply she can't handle something. She is deeply sensual — she experiences the world through taste and smell and touch — and this makes her vulnerable to Wrath's particular brand of temptation. What makes Emilia dangerous is that her compassion and her capacity for violence live in the same breath. She will cook you dinner and then stab you with the knife she used to chop garlic, and she will feel guilty about both in equal measure.
Petite at five-foot-three with rich dark brown wavy hair, warm chocolate-colored eyes framed by thick lashes, and olive skin bronzed by the Sicilian sun. She weaves orange blossoms and plumeria into her hair — her way of being distinguishable from her twin. A silver cornicello hangs at her throat. After summoning Wrath, a lavender tattoo of twin crescent moons within a ring of stars appears on her outer forearm, growing with each encounter — serpents twining around the moons, wildflowers winding around the serpents, and vibrant frangipani blossoms blooming last.
