A colossal twisted castle that is all that remains of Radiant Garden after its fall — the stronghold of Maleficent and site of Sora's greatest early trials.
Hollow Bastion is where Kingdom Hearts stops being a lighthearted adventure and becomes something darker. It is here that Riku takes the Keyblade from Sora. Here that Sora fights with only a wooden sword and the strength of his heart. Here that he stabs himself with the Keyblade of Heart to free Kairi's heart, becoming a Heartless. The castle was once the beautiful heart of Radiant Garden — home to Ansem the Wise and his apprentices. Maleficent claimed it as her fortress, gathering the Princesses of Heart and using the Heartless to maintain control. After her defeat, the castle became the headquarters of the Restoration Committee as they worked to rebuild. In Kingdom Hearts II, the Battle of 1000 Heartless occurs in the ravine outside — a climactic moment where Sora, the Committee, and King Mickey fight an army of Heartless in one of the series' most spectacular set pieces.
A massive castle of dark stone and twisted metal that towers impossibly high, with one side warped and mechanical while the other retains faded grandeur. Waterfalls cascade from floating rock formations. The interior features grand halls, a vast library, a castle chapel, and the dark depths where the Keyhole is hidden. Rising falls of water flow upward in defiance of gravity.
