Gummi Ships are the practical backbone of Kingdom Hearts' multiworld structure. Without them, travel between worlds would be impossible for anyone lacking a Corridor of Darkness or the power of a Keyblade wielder. King Mickey was the first to construct a Gummi Ship after discovering that the barriers between worlds had weakened. Sora's Gummi Ship is maintained by Chip and Dale and modified by Cid, with new blueprints designed by Geppetto. The ships can be extensively customized — a gameplay mechanic that has evolved from simple on-rails shooting to full 3D space exploration across the series. The gummi blocks themselves come from meteors that fall when world barriers weaken, meaning the very material that enables travel between worlds is a symptom of those worlds being in danger.
A small, colorful spacecraft constructed entirely from interlocking gummi blocks — a special material that can breach the barriers between worlds. The default ship resembles a cartoonish rocket in bright primary colors. Ships can be extensively customized with weapons, shields, engines, and decorative blocks. They fly through colorful space lanes filled with Heartless enemies.
