Pete is the comic villain you cannot quite hate. He is loud, cowardly, incompetent, and utterly devoted to Maleficent despite her constant abuse and threats. He travels across worlds causing trouble, summoning Heartless, and executing schemes that almost invariably backfire. His role is to provide levity in a story that can become intensely dark. He blusters and threatens, then runs screaming when Sora actually fights back. He has been banished to another dimension by Queen Minnie, manipulated by Maleficent, and defeated by Sora more times than anyone can count. Despite everything, Pete is genuinely loyal to Maleficent, and there are rare moments where his determination and stubbornness almost approach something like courage.
