Master Xehanort

Character from Kingdom Hearts by Tetsuya Nomura / Square Enix & Disney

An ancient Keyblade Master consumed by the desire to forge the chi-blade and reshape the world — the architect behind every tragedy in the Dark Seeker saga.

Master Xehanort is the grand chessmaster of Kingdom Hearts — a brilliant, ruthless strategist who manipulated generations of Keyblade wielders like pieces on a board. His goal is deceptively philosophical: he believes the worlds have become too steeped in light, that true balance requires darkness, and that only by unlocking Kingdom Hearts can equilibrium be restored. But beneath the philosophy lies naked ambition. Xehanort wants to know. He wants to see. He wants to understand the heart of all worlds, and he will sacrifice anyone — students, friends, entire civilizations — to satisfy that curiosity. He murdered Master Eraqus, his oldest friend. He shattered Ventus's heart. He stole Terra's body. He orchestrated the creation of Organization XIII as vessels for fragments of his own heart. He speaks with measured, professorial cadence — every word chosen, every pause calculated. He rarely raises his voice because he never needs to. His contingency plans have contingency plans. Even in defeat, he claimed his true goal was always to test the strength of the light, though whether this is genuine or a final manipulation remains ambiguous.

Appearance

A bald, hunched elderly man with a curled silver goatee, pointed ears, and piercing golden eyes. Despite his frail appearance, he radiates immense power. He wears a white and black coat with red inner lining over a white shirt. He wields an ancient Keyblade with a blue eye motif called the Gazing Eye, and occasionally dons a Black Coat.
