Kyoto Jujutsu High

Location from Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami

The sister school to Tokyo Jujutsu High — a more traditional and politically conservative institution that trains sorcerers in western Japan.

Kyoto Jujutsu High is Tokyo's counterpart and rival, responsible for training sorcerers and managing cursed spirit activity across western Japan. The school tends to attract students from established sorcerer families — the Kamo clan, the Zenin-adjacent — and its culture reflects that lineage-consciousness. Where Tokyo is scrappy and improvised, Kyoto is structured and political. The school participates in the annual Goodwill Event against Tokyo, a competitive exchange that is nominally about fostering cooperation and practically about institutional pride. Under Principal Gakuganji — an old-guard conservative who plays shamisen and makes no secret of his disdain for Yuji Itadori's existence — the school hews closely to the jujutsu higher-ups' directives. Its students, including Todo Aoi, Mai Zenin, Miwa Kasumi, and Noritoshi Kamo, range from fiercely independent to deeply entangled in clan politics.

Appearance

An elegant campus of classical Japanese architecture nestled in the hills outside Kyoto. The buildings are older and more ornate than Tokyo's, with manicured gardens and stone pathways. The atmosphere is formal, hierarchical, and steeped in tradition.
