Item from jojos-bizarre-adventure by Hirohiko Araki
The Aztec artifact that started everything — a mask that turns humans into vampires by piercing the brain with bone needles, created by Kars to transcend the Pillar Men's weakness to sunlight.
The Stone Mask is JoJo's original sin — the artifact that transforms Dio from a human sociopath into an immortal vampire, setting the entire saga in motion. Created by Kars thousands of years ago as a step toward ultimate evolution (the full plan required the Red Stone of Aja to complete), the mask found its way to the Joestar family's collection of antiquities. It works by stimulating dormant areas of the brain through bone needle acupuncture, unlocking superhuman abilities at the cost of vulnerability to sunlight and a hunger for blood. Every vampire in Parts 1-3 traces back to this single artifact.
A carved stone face mask with an eerie, serene expression. Ancient, ornate, covered in geometric patterns. When activated by blood, bone probes extend from the interior, piercing the wearer's skull at specific acupuncture points. The mask glows faintly when blood touches it. Compact enough to hold in one hand, heavy with the weight of what it represents.
