The Holy Corpse

Item from jojos-bizarre-adventure by Hirohiko Araki

The mummified remains of a saint scattered across North America — each part granting miraculous Stand abilities, and together forming a weapon capable of blessing an entire nation at the world's expense.

The Holy Corpse is the central MacGuffin of Steel Ball Run — the true reason Valentine organized the transcontinental race. The Corpse Parts are scattered across North America, each buried in a location that creates a Devil's Palm supernatural zone. Touching a Corpse Part can awaken or enhance Stand abilities. When assembled, the complete Corpse enables Love Train — a dimensional barrier that redirects all misfortune away from the nation that possesses it. Valentine wants to use this to make America invulnerable, directing the world's suffering elsewhere. The Corpse raises the moral question at the heart of SBR: is it righteous to make one nation blessed if the cost is borne by everyone else? Multiple factions race to collect the Parts — Valentine for American supremacy, Hot Pants for religious salvation, Johnny because the Corpse may be the only thing that can heal his legs.

Appearance

Mummified body parts — heart, left arm, spine, eyes, ears, ribs, legs, skull — each preserved in an otherworldly state. The parts glow with a faint holy light and feel warm to the touch despite being ancient. When assembled, the Corpse emanates an aura of transcendent peace. Each part looks simultaneously ancient and incorruptible — dried flesh that hasn't decayed in centuries, emitting a presence that makes believers fall to their knees.
