He blew himself up with a grenade to stop Santana, was rebuilt as a cyborg, and charged back into battle against Kars with the enthusiasm of a man who has found his purpose. He screams 'GERMAN SCIENCE IS THE WORLD'S FINEST!' with total conviction. He is brave, bombastic, and absolutely terrible — and Araki never lets you forget either half of that equation. He died on the Eastern Front at Stalingrad, off-screen, in a single sentence, and somehow even that feels appropriate.
