Sandman

Character from jojos-bizarre-adventure by Hirohiko Araki

A Native American runner competing on foot against thousands of horses — whose Soundman Stand weaponized sound itself, and whose motives remained enigmatic to the end.

Sandman enters the Steel Ball Run as its most impossible competitor — a man racing on foot against horses across six thousand miles. His people's land is being taken, and the prize money represents their only hope. He is quiet, observant, and moves with preternatural speed. His Stand, Soundman (or In a Silent Way), turns sounds into physical objects — the sound of a footstep becomes a blade, an explosion's sound becomes an actual detonation. He allies with Valentine near the race's end, making him an antagonist to Johnny and Gyro, but his motivations remain rooted in protecting his people. His death in the fight against Johnny is one of SBR's most bittersweet moments.
