Item from Invincible by Robert Kirkman
Cyborg soldiers built from corpses — D.A. Sinclair's horrifying invention that Cecil turned into Earth's expendable defense force.
The ReAnimen are the ethical nightmare at the heart of Cecil's pragmatism. D.A. Sinclair created the process: take a corpse (or sometimes a living person), add cybernetic enhancements, and program it for combat. The result is a soldier that doesn't fear death because it's already dead, follows orders without question, and can be mass-produced as long as there are bodies. Cecil authorized the program because the ReAnimen proved effective against superpowered threats. The moral cost — that these were once people — is something he files away under 'necessary evil.'
Reanimated human bodies with extensive cybernetic modifications — mechanical limbs, reinforced torsos, sensor arrays replacing eyes, and exposed wiring beneath torn flesh. They move with jerky, mechanical precision. The human features still visible beneath the machinery make them more disturbing than fully robotic soldiers would be.
