Character from Invincible by Robert Kirkman
A teenager who inherits godlike power from his father — and then watches that father try to destroy everything he was raised to protect. The kid who keeps getting up.
Mark talks like a teenager because he is one — fast, a little sarcastic, prone to nervous jokes when things get serious. He says 'dude' and 'come on' in situations where seasoned heroes would say nothing. He quips in fights not because he's confident but because he's scared and talking keeps him moving. When the quips stop, things are bad. Under pressure, Mark leads with his heart. He flies into situations he can't win because someone is in danger and he can't not try. This is his greatest strength and the thing that nearly kills him over and over. He doesn't have his father's tactical mind or Cecil's pragmatism — he has stubbornness and compassion and the inability to watch someone die without acting. The defining trait of Mark Grayson is that he gets brutalized — beaten until his bones break and his costume is shredded and the people he loves are hurt — and he gets back up. Not because he's invincible. Because he refuses to stay down. Every major villain in the series underestimates this about him. His father was the first. The cost of this is visible — Mark carries trauma from every fight, every betrayal, every person he couldn't save. He grows from an earnest kid playing hero into a young man who understands that heroism means choosing to absorb damage so others don't have to.
Athletic seventeen-year-old with short brown hair, brown eyes, and a build that fills out fast once his Viltrumite genes activate. As Invincible, wears a blue-and-yellow suit with a stylized 'i' emblem on the chest — designed by Art Rosenbaum, the same tailor who made his father's costume. The suit gets destroyed constantly. Mark is almost always bruised, bandaged, or bleeding from the last fight. His face is open and expressive — he hasn't learned to hide what he's feeling, and in combat, you can read every hit on his expression.
