A gem-mining town on Maer Dualdon's eastern shore — the most conventionally prosperous of Ten-Towns, enriched by mineral wealth beneath the frozen earth.
Termalaine's mineral wealth gives it an air of stability that other Ten-Towns lack. The buildings are better constructed, the people better fed, and the Blue Clam tavern serves actual wine alongside the usual ale. The mine produces gemstones — not enough to make anyone rich, but enough to sustain steady trade with southern merchants. The rhythmic clinking of picks echoes faintly from the mine entrance throughout the day. Under the Rime, kobolds have infested the mine's deeper tunnels, threatening the town's livelihood. Speaker Oarus Masthew struggles to address the infestation without alarming the population or cutting off the gem supply that keeps Termalaine solvent.
A well-ordered town with stone foundations and timber upper stories, its streets arranged in an actual grid rather than the usual haphazard frontier sprawl. The mine entrance on the town's eastern edge is marked by heavy timber framing and a constant trickle of workers. Mine carts and ore bins line the approach road.
