Redwaters

Location from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

The smallest and southernmost of the three lakes — named for its reddish tint at sunset, supporting only the two most struggling settlements of Ten-Towns.

Redwaters is the forgotten lake of Ten-Towns. Smaller and less productive than Maer Dualdon or Lac Dinneshere, it supports the two least influential towns in the confederation. The mineral content that gives the water its distinctive color also gives the fish a slightly bitter taste that makes them less valuable as trade goods. In winter, the shallow lake freezes faster and deeper than the others, making ice fishing nearly impossible during the worst months.

Appearance

A modest lake south of its larger siblings, its waters carrying a faint reddish-brown tint from mineral-rich runoff that becomes vivid at sunset. The shores are marshy in summer and frozen solid in winter. Dougan's Hole and Good Mead huddle on opposite shores like two people sharing an uncomfortable silence.
