Lac Dinneshere

Location from Icewind Dale by R.A. Salvatore / Wizards of the Coast / Black Isle Studios

The eastern lake of Icewind Dale, colder and deeper than its siblings — its dark waters mirror the mountains and support three towns along its shores.

Lac Dinneshere is the most atmospheric of the three lakes — deeper, colder, and surrounded by more dramatic terrain. The water has a reputation for claiming boats and swimmers with sudden squalls that appear without warning. Fishermen speak of enormous shapes glimpsed beneath the ice in winter. The ferry route between Easthaven and Caer-Dineval was once a vital commercial link, now frozen solid under the Rime.

Appearance

A deep, cold lake nestled against the base of Kelvin's Cairn, its waters so dark they appear almost black. The eastern shore runs up against rocky terrain, while the southern and western shores support the towns of Easthaven, Caer-Dineval, and Caer-Konig. The mountain's reflection in the still water creates an uncanny sense of depth.
