Auril's sacred island in the Sea of Moving Ice — a frozen rock where the Frostmaiden's fortress of Grimskalle stands and mortals are not meant to tread.
The Island of Solstice exists in a state of supernatural winter more intense than even the Everlasting Rime. The air burns exposed skin instantly, and breath freezes into crystals that hang in the air. The sea ice around the island is patrolled by frost druids and ice mephits in Auril's service. The island's very atmosphere resists the presence of warm-blooded creatures — the cold is not passive but aggressive, actively seeking to extinguish any source of heat. Only the most determined or desperate adventurers attempt to reach it.
A small, rocky island locked in the pack ice of the Sea of Moving Ice, its shores ringed by pressure ridges of shattered ice. The island itself is bare stone covered in permanent frost, with Grimskalle rising from its center like a spike of frozen light. The surrounding sea ice shifts constantly, grinding and reforming, making approach by boat nearly impossible.
